Pie Dock : The Next Gen Dock..

Piedock is a task bar and application launcher in shape of a pie menu of icons.PieDock feels a little bit like the famous OS X dock but in shape of a pie menu which appears directly around your mouse cursor.
Basically it shows a selection of icons that you can use to control or launch the corresponding application.


  • Requires a C++ compiler, a make utitlity along with the headers and libraries of X11 and libpng.
  • Runs on Linux and *BSD.

Entertainer : The Best Media Center

Entertainer aims to be a simple and easy-to-use media center solution for Gnome and XFce desktop environments. Entertainer is written completely in Python using object-oriented programming paradigm. It uses GStreamer multimedia framework for multimedia playback. User Interface is implemented with Clutter UI-library, which allows sleek OpenGL animated user interfaces. Entertainer also uses other great projects like SQLite, pyIMDBb and iNotify.


  1. Movies and TV-series : – You can watch movies and TV-Series from your harddrive. Entertainer automatically searches and downloads metadata like cover art from the Internet.

  3. Photographs : – Watch your family photographs from the big screen. Entertainer includes a photoraph library, which allows you easily find your best shots.

KDE 4.1 Roadmap and Future Goals !

KDE 4 is out, as you probably already know, and it comes with a lot of innovations for the Linux desktop. KDE 4 is the next generation of the popular K Desktop Environment, which seeks to fulfill the need for a powerful yet easy-to-use desktop, for both personal and enterprise computing. KDE project’s goal for the 4.0 release is to put the foundations in place for future innovations on the FREE desktop. But today, we will talk about the future versions of KDE 4 and what features they’ll bring. Let’s have a look first at the main goals for KDE 4.1, which will be released somewhere in July:

GIMP 2.4.4 and Animation Package 2.4.0 Now Available.

The GIMP Animation Package, or GAP, is a collection of plug-ins that extend GIMP with capabilities to create and edit animations. The 2.4.0 version of the GIMP Animation Package is a bug-fix release that makes GAP usable with GIMP 2.4.x releases.A new release for the stable branch of GIMP, version 2.4.4, was released along with the GIMP Animation Package 2.4.0. You should know that this version of GIMP is a bugfix release and no new features were added.

New features in GIMP 2.4.4:

Stream My Game launches Linux Player !

StreamMyGame.com has released today its free Linux Player, application that will let you play any PC game through a PlayStation 3 with Linux installed on it.

The StreamMyGame Server converts the game’s video and audio into a Game Stream and sends it over a local network to another computer, thus allowing the latter to view and play the game with the StreamMyGame Player. I’ve almost forgot to mention that both the Server and Client solutions are free, so you won’t have to pay anything for them. The machine running the Client app can be a PC, PS3, laptop or Linux device, and it does not need to have the game installed on it. Also, the second computer will not experience any lag at all.

Adobe Flex Builder available for Linux !

Flex Builder Linux is a plugin-only version of the Flex Builder that you can use to build Flex applications on Linux.

Flex Builder Linux Alpha supports most Flex Builder 3 features, including project creation, code coloring, code hints, compilation, the Ajax Bridge, Find All References, and debugging. Not all features are supported, however, and there is a list of unsupported Flex Builder features later in this page.
