Exaile is a music player aiming to be similar to KDE’s Amarok, but for GTK+ and written in Python. It incorporates many of the cool things from Amarok (and other media players) like automatic fetching of album art, handling of large libraries, lyrics fetching, artist/album information via Wikipedia, Last.fm submission support, and optional iPod support via a plugin.
In addition, Exaile also includes a built-in SHOUTcast directory browser, tabbed playlists (so you can have more than one playlist open at a time), blacklisting of tracks (so they don’t get scanned into your library), downloading of guitar tablature from fretplay.com, and submitting played tracks on your iPod to Last.fm.
Exaile 0.2.10
- Plugin Manager improvements – you can now install plugins from within the plugin manager
- Scriptable Radio Panel – People will be able to write plugins for your favorite streaming service. (currently shoutcast is available)
- Lots of new translations
- New music sharing plugin – you can share your music with people using iTunes or other people using Exaile

“The best media Player”?… Yes, if you refer ONLY to Gnome. Exaile is JUST a copy of the superb Amarok for the horrendous GTK+ environment. Surely is the best option is you only consider Gnome ‘native’ applications but not if you speak for Linux or, in October, for every possible Platform because Amarok will be there to take that place. Just take the facts: music player, with device management, radio (shoutcast included), podcasts, Lat.fm and online services supported (shopping in Magnatunes, and in a near future Jamendo downloads and so on).Oh, it’s fast as well and it’s NOT a ‘memory eater’.

Try installing phthon-gnome2-extras from the repos in Ubuntu. After doing this, when I right click a song title and select “i” information a new Information tab pops up with additional tabs of Stats, Artist, Album, Lyrics, Tablature.
Hope that helps and post back here!

Of course that’s the package “python-gnome2-extras”! Sorry for the typo.
Also, make sure you enable the Exaile repositories according to you version of Ubuntu according to the Exaile site at: http://www.exaile.org/downloads
